De La Rue has announced, that on October 13 the new 10 year banknote printing contract was signed by Bank of England and De La Rue. The sterling banknotes wiil be printed at Bank's facility in Debden, Essex.
On September 8 2014 Bank of England announced that De La Rue had been identified as "preferred bidder" for the banknote printing contract. The Bank has subsequently completed assurance activity on De La Rue’s bid and the contract has now been finalised.
Philip Rogerson, De La Rue Chairman commented; “We are delighted with the Bank of England’s decision to award this prestigious and important contract to De La Rue, following a rigorous selection procedure. We are looking forward to continuing our successful working relationship with the Bank over the next 10 years.”
The new contract will commence in April 2015.
