The banknotes of this series are made on a polymer substrate. The most important security features of the new series is large window with a holographic portrait and an image of a building. Frosted maple leaf transparent window contains a holographic element WinDOE®. Blind embossing, see-through register, and the image of maple leaves framing the large window and partially crossing into the window from the printed area of the banknote are also used to protect the banknote against counterfeiting. The banknote design celebrates Canada’s achievements in the development of the country, the world and space exploration.
