De La Rue to Print on GBP
BOE has finished reviewing corporate applications submitted under the tender for GBP production at its printworks in Essex. According to the Bank's press release, the contract will be awarded De La Rue this October. Banknote printing under the contract is due since April 2015.
BOE first outsourced its note production in 2003. Its then official printer was also De La Rue as the tender winner. This contract expires in March 2015.
De La Rue is one of the oldest and most experienced security printers. It's been printing notes since 1860.
